SAT Question of the Day
CURRENT ASSIGNMENTS
MS/HS AVID November 6:
1) (MS & HS) Complete GPA Goal Setting for first quarter (DUE before the end of class).
2) (HS) Begin the SAT Sample Test (Work on SAT sample test today, continue on Wednesday, finish on Friday; score test on Friday).
MS/HS AVID September 30:
(DUE by midnight Thursday, October 2): MS students, create your new WIKI page. Log in and go to your page. If anything is on it, erase it and start anew. TITLE your page Name's College Journal (example: Sarah's College Journal). You can put your photo on it if you want. Use whatever colors and fonts you want as long as it is readable. ALL students, your journal entry should address this prompt:
(SAT question) Think carefully about the issue presented in the following excerpt and the assignment below.
People who move from place to place often say that they feel happier and more fulfilled than they would if they lived out their lives in one place. Other people say that spending a lifetime in the same community is actually a more rewarding option, because doing so enables them to maintain a strong network of family and friends–something that people who move around a lot may find difficult to develop.
Assignment: Are people who stay in the same community happier than those who move from one place to another? Plan and write an essay in which you develop your point of view on this issue. Support your position with reasoning and examples taken from your reading, studies, experience, or observations.
HS AVID September 22:

Your first journal entry should address this prompt: "What does it mean to learn how to learn?" "What do you need to know in order to become a better learner?" Date your journal entry. They will be graded on the rubric below.
The following RUBRIC will be used to score your online assigned postings:
40 = Post was on time, had few or no writing errors, was of appropriate length, and showed depth of thought and/or originality
30 = Post was on time, had few writing errors, may have been a little short in length, and showed less thought and/or originality than the best examples
20 = Post was on time, had some writing errors or was much shorter than most posting or lacking in depth or originality
10 = Post was late
0 = Post was missing or more than three days late
BINDER CHECKS
1. Binder checks will be conducted every other week.
2. The next binder check will be October 2nd.
3. When you come to AVID, put your binder and agenda in the designated location.
